4. WHAT DO I NEED TO DO TO GET STARTED?

Here's a step-by-step guide to introducing an apprenticeship programme into your workplace:

We provide a professional recruitment service which is free of charge whether you take on an apprentice or not.
You will be contacted by our Recruitment Officer who will call to see you at your convenience and find out the details of your vacancy.
We will then search through our database of potential apprentices who will already have undertaken an assessment in English and Mathematics with our Recruitment Officer and will have had a one-to-one interview.
You will be given a personal profile of any candidates we feel match your requirements.
We will organise any interviews you wish to undertake – all we need from you is a date and a time.
You are under no obligation to employ any of our candidates if you do not feel they are suitable.
The only cost to you is simply an appropriate wage to the learner once you employ a person aged 16-19. For a person over 19, you are expected to contribute to the cost of the training programme.

6. As the employer, what are my responsibilities?

The responsibilities of the employer will be discussed in detail when you first meet with the Recruitment Officer. In general, the employer is responsible for ensuring:

On-the-job training.
Your apprentice must be given the opportunity for off the job training at College and with STEGTA.
