1. WHAT IS AN APPRENTICESHIP?

An Apprenticeship is a combination of on and off the job training. As an Apprentice, you are able to gain hands on experience and earn a salary whilst studying towards a qualification.

2. WHAT WILL MY APPRENTICESHIP INVOLVE?

An Apprenticeship can include numerous elements. This can include the following:

  • Practical skills training within a Workshop environment (if applicable)
  • Completing a competence based portfolio
  • Attending College to undertake theoretical learning
  • Functional Skills in Maths/English if required
  • End Point Assessment

3. What is a Competence Based Portfolio?

As part of your Apprenticeship, you will be required to meet some Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours to demonstrate your ability to understand and perform your role. The portfolio may contain supporting information such as engineering drawings, projects, reflective journals etc. Your portfolio will be assessed by your STEGTA Training Officer.
