Stegta learners Jake Green, Alex McCluskey and Jacob Parker, who work for CarnaudMetalbox, spent two days with us in March to hone their skills in preparation for the next round of the WorldSkills UK competition.

Alex spent time in our training centre working with our experienced instructor David Harrison, while Jacob worked with Training Officer Ian Coward on his welding and fabrication skills. Jake Green spent the day at Member Company Console Wizard where company owner Mark Stapleton helped him develop his advanced PCB soldering, rework and repair skills.

A big thank you to Mark Stapleton at Console Wizard for spending the time with Jake working on Advanced Soldering Skills!

Good luck to our apprentices in the next round of the competition!

During the past two and a half years both have also attended Trafford College on a day release basis and have obtained BTEC Level 3 Diploma’s in ‘Construction and the Built Environment’ (Building Services Engineering), whilst also building an expanding product and technical knowledge base within the Projects department.

Both are now furthering their academic career and attending Stockport College on day release to study ‘Mechanical Engineering’ at HNC level.
I would like to thank STEGTA and Helen Wilson (STEGTA Training Officer) for her regular visits to ENER-G, reviewing their portfolios and providing guidance and direction which contributed to both their achievements.
