We asked Daniel how he felt about winning the award:

“To win the excellence award was a great feeling and one which I did not expect; it’s rewarding to know that all the hard work which I’ve put in over the course of my Apprenticeship has been acknowledged by both Clancy’s and STEGTA. Throughout the course of my Apprenticeship, I knew that I could rely on the support from my training officer, Tim Harding, and all those at Clancy’s as they helped to push me towards gathering a wide range of evidence.

In any instances where I was unsure about what projects to use for my evidence, then I knew that I could approach Tim and ask what would be most suitable for me to meet the criteria. With the aid of my colleagues at Clancy, I could then tailor my work to suit the differing requirements of the NVQ. This ultimately helped me to achieve the qualification.

My Apprenticeship has helped me to gauge a wider understanding of all elements within Building Services Engineering and this has allowed me to carry on my studies at Coventry University, part-time. I am now undertaking a Degree Apprenticeship whilst still gaining huge amounts of experience during my day-to-day work at Clancy Consulting.”

Tim commented “Dan has been an outstanding Apprentice Building Services Engineering Technician, and has recently embarked on an undergraduate programme. I feel sure that Dan will achieve his ambition and use the knowledge he has gained whilst working at Clancy to become a highly valued Building Services graduate engineer.

From the very start Dan has taken control and ownership of his Apprenticeship programme, setting his own goals and standards, which he very often surpassed. The quality of his work has been exemplary and he has applied his knowledge of Building Services Engineering principles to become a valuable asset to his company Clancy Consulting, who I would also like to recognise for their assistance in helping Dan to achieve this award.

He has been extremely professional and well organised throughout his Apprenticeship and thoroughly deserves the “Excellence Award”. Well done Dan!
